How the Family Club Supports Life Beyond Relocation

Inside Mayflower, there’s a special community — the Family Club. It brings together relocated spouses, helps them adapt, make friends, and find joy in a new place. We spoke with Karina Kushch, the club’s manager and driving force, to learn more about how it works.

How the Family Club Was Born

The Family Club began as an internal HR initiative to support employees’ families after relocation. We saw that while employees integrate into work life quite naturally, their spouses often face a different reality. That’s why we created a space focused specifically on their needs — social connection, practical adaptation, and a sense of belonging.

The Challenges Families Face — and How We Help

Spouses often find themselves in a new country without a support system, professional direction, or clear answers about schooling and everyday life. The club helps by connecting them with others in the same situation, sharing useful tips, and organizing events where people can meet and feel supported.

How the Community Has Evolved

At first, we started with simple meetups and casual parties to help newcomers connect. Over time, we added big family celebrations that became a tradition. As the community grew, natural leaders began to emerge, and new interest-based groups formed — like a book club, speaking club, yoga sessions, hiking, and crafts. It’s become a space shaped by the people in it.

The Moments That Stay With Us

Our big children’s celebrations always stand out — no family ever misses them. The annual yacht party is another favorite, where people reconnect in a relaxed, beautiful setting. Many of our most loved events actually come from the members themselves — like quizzes, picnics, and themed game nights. That’s what makes them so special: they grow from the community.

What This Community Means to Me

I started as a participant, and it meant a lot to feel that someone had thought about us — I didn’t want to miss a single meetup. That’s how I made new friends and even discovered new hobbies. Now, as a leader, it’s important for me to see that the community is alive — not just through events, but through the everyday support in the chat, where no question ever goes unanswered.

To Those Who Are Just Starting Out

You’re not alone — many of us have felt the same way at first. Don’t hesitate to reach out, come to an event, or just drop a message in the chat. This community is here exactly for that — to help you find your people, settle in, and feel at home faster.

The Future of the Family Club

We’re planning to grow and become even more inclusive — opening events not only for spouses but for employees and their whole families, including local colleagues. We want to keep supporting adaptation while expanding social and cultural activities that bring everyone together. Our dream is to build a truly diverse and connected community where everyone feels at home and part of something bigger.
